Dr. Dharmanand, completed his MBBS from Madurai Medical College, where he was a recipient of Gold Medal in Dermatology and also held the post of Assistant general secretary. He completed his MD (General Medicine) from Mysore Medical College and his DM (Rheumatology) from the prestigious Madras Medical college. He also served as an assistant professor in Madras Medical College before moving to Bangalore. He started the first department of Rheumatology in the private sector at Manipal Hospital, Bangalore. He had served as a consultant in Manipal hospitals, Sakra World Hospital and Chanre Immunology & Rheumatology centre. He held top positions in the Indian Rheumatology Association (IRA) of which he was the president between the year 2021-23. He was a recipient of Kolkon oration of IRA and multiple orations of various medical associations. He has special interest in Fibromyalgia, chronic pain, Scleroderma, SLE, Osteoporosis and Reproductive Immunology.
